Coffee Chat

My regular readers will notice I have been absent the last couple of days and I am so sorry about this.  What can I say…………I was tired and played hooky.

This middle aged lady is not used to working anymore, at least not physically working anyway.  College is a full time work out in itself, but for that I use my brain.  Working for the public as a cashier and standing for 8 hours a day, using muscles I had forgotten I have, is tiring to say the least.

This year I am not cooking a big dinner, in fact I am not cooking at all.  I have been one of the lucky people that have been chosen to work all night on Thanksgiving.  So my plan for the Thanksgiving holiday is to eat at a friend’s house and nap most of the afternoon away.

This week I am joining

Have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends.  Now “Go Forth and Eat Turkey”.

Every Day Is Pink

Pink symbolizes: Love, Beauty, Kindness, and Compassion

As I was getting ready for posting Pink Saturday this morning I found myself running out of ideas.  You see, I didn’t think I had that much pink left in my life.  When my husband and I separated last year and I moved out last Christmas I left many pink treasures behind.

So I went off on an adventure around my house this morning to see just how many Pinks I had in my home and used on a daily basis.  I was actually rather surprised to see how many pinks I still have.

Each night I sleep under pink and pale green.

Every single day I use Viva La Juicy.  I adore this perfume!  I had always been a White Diamonds lady until I discovered this magical scent.  Now it’s my signature fragrance.

I have started collecting my favorite china once again, Moss Rose.

My little “Hope” sleeps in this adorable doggie bed each night.

I have found another blogger who loves pink as well.  Her name is Shirley and you can find her here @ From the Heart.  I invite you all to head over and give Shirley a visit today.  She’s showing a beautiful pink bird house today that her husband built.

As well I want to give a special thank you to Beverly @ How Sweet The Sound for letting me take part in her Pink Saturday meme.  I’ve made many new friends thanks to Beverly.  Why don’t you go and give her a visit as well.

Until next time my sweet friends, remember to,

Friday Fun

Today I woke to the most beautiful clear blue sky, without a single cloud in sight.  So after drinking my first morning cup of coffee yes this time I had coffee first I decided to head outdoors and capture some beauty and fun that’s in my world.  My camera has become a tool of sorts.  This tool has helped me to see the beauty of the simple things in my everyday life.  You know those small things that you might normally take for granted.

I no longer take those small things for granted anymore.  If you read yesterday’s post here, you know why.

I first took some shots of the sky.  I noticed the sun was in one area and the moon was still up and on its side as well.  I then meandered around the yard just snapping shots of the things around.

The normal things here at my Little Trailer in the Woods, like firewood, still stacked up to be cut down to size.  My son burns wood for their heat in the winter months.  I wish I could say I had a fireplace to use the wood in.  My tool and I both noticed how pretty the wood grain is.

Then again I walked around in the front yard.  I snapped a few pictures of the dogs.  These dogs bring a lot of fun into my world every day.  The boston terrier, Thumper, belongs to my grandchildren.  I love this dog because if not for him last winter, I probably would have frozen to death.  There was a week or more we lost power due to ice and over a foot of snow.  We had no phone and lived way out in the woods.  We ran out of firewood, and had only what we could gather lying on the ground outdoors.  The roads were too bad to drive on and we would have ended up in the ditches if we had attempted it.  Also at the worst time, my son’s chainsaw quit working.  The temps were well below freezing.  Thumper slept in my bed at night and his body warmth was dearly cherished.

This little fellow here is named Blackie for lack of a better name.  He’s here because; well I guess you could say I adopted him.  I had neighbors move in during the summer and he belonged to them.  They quite simply moved off and left him.  How can anyone do that to an animal is beyond me.  So I took him in and gave him a home.  He is really sweet, good natured and loving.

This little angel is named Hopeless, or Hope, for short.  I did adopt her when I first moved out of my son’s house.  I wanted a companion, and one who would let me know if someone or something was outside that shouldn’t be.  She was perfect.

Today my plans consist of: rest, catching up on my blog reading, and then heading to work tonight.

Until we meet again my friends, remember to

My Joy

1.  The passion or emotion excited by the acquisition or expectation of good; pleasurable feelings or emotions caused by success, good fortune, and the like, or by a rational prospect of possessing what we love or desire; gladness; exhilaration of spirits; delight.

Sometimes as we go through our daily lives we forget to celebrate, or hold dear, the things we have in our lives, that bring us great joy.  Sometimes we simply take for granted precious things that bring us joy.

This year has been an extremely difficult year for me.  In the blink of an eye my entire life changed.  In a simple matter of moments my world was turned upside down.  How I had pictured and dreamed of my life ahead, was gone, taken away in a flash.  It was not due to physical death, thankfully, but to my husband announcing last Christmas that he “wanted a divorce”, that he “no longer loved me as he should”.  In my happy little world, this was a death.  It was a death, a death of my joy.

Naturally I thought I had no more joy left in my life.  I was stunned, sad, to say the least, and heartbroken.

You see, during the last couple of years in my marriage, I had prayed that God bring me closer to my grandchildren.  I had prayed that he show me some way to be in their lives more, to be physically closer to them, and to be able to spend more time with them.  You see they were going through a very difficult time themselves.  I prayed for God to guide me in the right direction and that whatever he chose for me, would be a benefit to not only myself, but to them.  I prayed that whatever he felt was good and right that I would heed and follow.  God in all his infinite wisdom had directed me to all that brings me great joy.  He guided me straight to them, as if they were a shining star in the heavens above.

My JOY is my grandchildren…………….

Rylee, my newest grandson
Jakob, my oldest grandson

Hailey, my granddaughter

These precious little beings have brought me more lasting joy than I could have ever imagined.  Their smiles, laughter, hugs and kisses are what brought me back to finding real and lasting joy in my life once again.

Seeing everyday life, through the eyes of my grand children, is a  dear reminder of what joy really is, and how never, ever to take the simple things for granted.

Oh and by the way, remember when you say your prayers, that you just might want to be a little more specific about what you're asking for.   God still let me keep my sense of humor.

Perfect Sunrise

Capturing the perfect sunrise is not easy when you live in the mountains.  In fact, it’s downright hard, if not impossible, to do.  You’re surrounded by trees in all directions, which block the view of the sun first making its magnificent peep over the mountain tops, as well as, all of its wonderful colors as its exploding onto the earth.

While I was writing this however I got to thinking, any day the Lord grants us another sunrise is perfect in itself.  No matter if you can view it in all its glory or simply catch smatterings of it as it rises over the mountains and through the trees.

Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Okay, maybe the earth didn’t stand still, but I swear I heard a choir sing “Hallelujah “when I got finished.  If you’re a regular blog fan here then you know that for the last couple of weeks I have been saying and swearing that I would accomplish some things on my “to do list”.  The main one on that list was putting together my new bookcase.   I can happily say that I got this DONE.  I promise after I got finished I done a happy dance around my living room.  I was that thrilled about it.

It sorta resembles a coffin at this point.

TADA, all finished and placed in it's place of honor.

My Angel that watched over me patiently waiting.

I must also let you know that it is very important to read and follow directions.  Yup, I learned this after years of preaching to my husband to do the same exact thing.  I attempted to follow those directions, but you can see from the pictures that the second piece that was put together didn’t go quite like the pictures shown.  It is the main top part of my bookcase.  I put it on upside down, but I will paint it and leave it.  I was just so happy to finally be doing this that I didn’t care if it was upside or not.

Not only did I accomplish 1 item on my list, but I got a 2nd one done as well.  Now you know how truly excited I was and am.  I also managed to get my table top cleaned, everything put away and organized and I even got it decorated.  WooHoo for me.

I wasn’t sure whether to put any decorations on my bookcase but eventually decided it needed a little something.  I remembered I had my birdhouses packed away and decided to use a few of those as accessories.  The 3 that you see on the top of the case were given to me from a dear sweet friend before moving here.  She knows my love of birds and how I had once collected bird houses.  The Lord has truly blessed me with dear friends through the years and for this I am ever grateful.
